CEDAR Audio is pleased to announce the immediate appointment of Control Audio as its exclusive dealer in Australia.

Control Audio is a subsidiary of Control Devices, a company based in Sydney, Australia. Already the importer and distributor for Prism Sound, Lundahl and Penny & Giles audio products, the company boasts almost every radio and TV station in Australia among its customers. Other major clients include the Australian Federal Police, Screensound (the Australian National Film and Sound Archive), Sony Mastering, Sony Music Studios, Studios 301, Powerhouse Studios, Fox Studios, Telstra Australia, the Australian Parliament House (Dept of Parliamentary Reporting) and the Sydney Opera House.

Control Devices was established by its Managing Director, Rick Dowel. Rick has 24 years' experience in audio, having started as a trainee technician in 1977 with Channel 7 in Canberra. By 1987 he was designing and building recording studios, and was one of the first Australian audio engineers to embrace digital audio technology.

He says this of the company's appointment, "I am absolutely delighted to be appointed the Australian dealer for CEDAR. I have a healthy interest in what I call 'the very pointy end' of professional audio and, with Penny & Giles, Prism, Lundahl and now CEDAR, I have the world's best products to offer the Australian market."

A brief background to the CEDAR systems in Australia...

The first CEDAR System in Australia was installed in 1993, and resides in the ABC Radio Archives. This was soon followed by installations at the Australian Federal Police and DVM, now the country's premier DVD mastering house. Other CEDAR modules are in use within facilities as diverse as Screensound (who use a number of rackmount modules for restoration purposes and to create user copies of archive material), Michael Gissing's 'Digital City' post production studios, the Australian Royal Blind Society, and the Queensland Police's audio forensic laboratory. In addition to these, CEDAR processes are installed on numerous SADiE systems across Australia.
