Phase Corrector Module on
CEDAR for Windows platform
1 October 1997
CEDAR Audio Ltd announces the imminent release of its latest
Phase/Time (Azimuth) Corrector module.
Developed from the CEDAR-20 Phase/Time Corrector software, also
implemented on the AZ-1
Azimuth Corrector, the WIN5: Azimuth Corrector
becomes the fifth CEDAR process to be re-coded to
run on the CEDAR for
Windows platform. The new module features improved auto-detection
algorithms,
Lissajous and Balance metering, eighteen output modes, and
offers auto-correction to within 0.25
samples. A manual control allows
users to slide channels against each other with a precision of 0.01
samples. These facilities allow audio engineers to recover high
frequencies, improve bass response,
restore mono compatibility, and
clarify imaging that can not be corrected by other methods.
The beta-test version will be installed at Digital Sound & Picture
(New York) during the AES Convention.
Bill Lacey, President, says,
`CEDAR's Phase Correctors are indispensable, particularly when
summing to
mono, and many clients can not believe the audio
improvements that they make possible. I have had two
of the DOS-based
CEDAR-20 Phase/Time Corrector modules installed for more than three
years, and have
used them to help restore many Elvis, Jefferson
Airplane, Harry Nilsson, and Glenn Miller albums.
I also used them
extensively on Grammy Award-winning Heifitz CDs and the
Grammy-nominated Frank
Sinatra/Tommy Dorsey box set. I am very excited
to be the first to have access to the new algorithms
on my CEDAR for
Windows systems.'
CEDAR's existing Phase/Time Correctors and AZ-1 modules
are widely
used in the Music, TV, and Radio industries, as well as in National
Archives and Libraries
worldwide. They are also to be found in audio
forensic laboratories. Current users include: Sony
Music Studios (New
York), Masterfonics (Nashville), Q-Tec (Tokyo), RAI Radiotelevisione
(Rome),
the ABC (Sydney), Norwegian Broadcasting (Oslo), Bayerischer
Rundfunk (Munich), The Library of
Congress (Washington DC), The
British Library National Sound Archive (London), and The New Zealand
Police (Wellington).
